HAUL: Vedasto Checkbook Wallet

I am a fanatic Hobonichi user. I tried all the size and fell in love with how compact the Weeks is. It’s simple, highly customizable and light enough to carry around.

Agonizing over what planner to use happens often but finding the “right” cover is a hassle as well. Though Hobonichi offers yearly cover, they are wayyyy too expensive. That’s why I’m here to share a cheaper alternative – the Vedasto Checkbook Wallet.

I am a sucker for leather. My favorite cover so far is the Eddie wallet from The Tannery Manila. Although not specifically made as a planner cover, it fits my Weeks (and Mega) perfectly.

Since there’s no slot on the right side, it can be a tad awkward when opening the planner. I easily got used to it but I wish it wasn’t the case. Sometimes I don’t even slot it and leave it as is.

Since I can be a scrooge at times, and although TTM is within the budget (PHP 3,200), I wanted to check my other options.

I saw the wallet recommended in the Hobonichi Users PH page. I got curious since I was on the constant hunt for a good cover alternative. Although Vedasto has many branches it’s not within my area. They didn’t have a dedicated online shop so I messaged them and ordered via FB.

I purchased this last November and I have been using it ever since. This is a 2-month check-in of my Vedasto Checkbook Wallet.

What I Love About the Vedasto Checkbook Wallet

Perfect for the weeks. It can even fit the Mega Weeks, although I haven’t tested it with a chunky one.
Slots and pockets galore. The wallet also has a wide pocket for your larger paper and whatnot.
Snap closure versus zip around.

Things I Wished Were Better

The pen loop needs to be bigger is garbage. I couldn’t fit a decent pen on it. A pencil can fit but nothing thicker than that. Didn’t even try my fountain pens. It was such a hassle because its located inside rather than on the sides. I snipped it off the same day and clip my fountain pen on the strap instead. Wish they also added it on the outside so it doesn’t bump into stuff inside.
I’m not in love with the leather. I know it’s a different type of leather compared to TTM which explains the price. I don’t even want to talk about the non-leather parts inside that are way too delicate. It’s thin and flimsy.

Things to consider

Customer service was impeccable. Their staff was very accommodating and patient with my queries.
Purchasing via FB is quick and easy. They also offer COD.
Their prices are great for cheaper leather goods. If you wish to own a much cheaper cover for your Hobonichi (compared to the Hobo website), try this.
They also carry an array of different wallet options and products, also reasonably priced.

Although there are details I dislike about my wallet, the things I love about it outweigh the cons.

There are alternatives for people like me who don’t have the budget and can’t justify an Appunto slim. We have options friends. If you’re in the Philippines and looking for cover for your Weeks, I highly recommend the Vedasto Checkbook Wallet @ PHP 1,300. #supportlocal
